Sir George Sweeney
was knighted for his unstinting work in the field
of Further Education. He was appointed to his
present post in January 1990 following the merger
of two colleges to form Knowsley Community
College. Married with two daughters, he was
awarded a Knighthood in 2000 Queen's Birthday
Honours.

The Right Reverend John
Waine KCVO was Bishop of Chelmsford
between 1986 and 1996 and potential candidate for
the office of Archbishop of Canterbury. He is
currently a member of the Press Complaints
Commission. He first became a member of Essex
University Council in 1994 and was appointed
Chair of Council and Pro-Chancellor in 1995. The
Right Reverend John Waine is currently Chair of
the University of Essex Foundation. More

Andrew Burrows, has been the Norton Rose
Professor of Commercial Law in the University of
Oxford since 1999. In July 2007, he was elected
Fellow of the British Academy for his work in
English law of obligations, especially the law of
restitution/unjust enrichment and remedies for
breach of contract and torts. |
